1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of Trafford Tape Transfer's services and website. By placing an order with us, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Our Services

Trafford Tape Transfer provides the conversion of analogue media into digital formats, including but not limited to VHS, VHS-C, Video8, Hi8, Digital8, MiniDV, audio cassettes and other compatible media.

Digital copies may be supplied on USB, DVD or other agreed digital formats.

Optional editing services are available at an additional cost.

3. Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for ensuring that:

  • They own the media submitted or have permission from the copyright owner to reproduce it.

  • All items are correctly packaged before being sent.

  • Accurate contact details are provided.

  • The contents of any parcel are correctly listed where requested.

Trafford Tape Transfer accepts no responsibility for delays caused by incorrect customer information.

4. Copyright

Customers must only submit material they legally own or have permission to copy.

Trafford Tape Transfer accepts no liability for any copyright infringement committed by customers.

We reserve the right to refuse any order that appears to breach copyright law.

5. Tape Condition

Analogue tapes naturally deteriorate with age.

Customers acknowledge that:

  • Picture quality may be reduced.

  • Colours may have faded.

  • Audio quality may have deteriorated.

  • Dropouts, tracking issues and interference may already exist.

We will always use professional equipment to obtain the best possible transfer from the original media, but we cannot improve or restore information that no longer exists on the original recording.

6. Editing Services

Basic and Advanced Editing services are intended to improve the presentation of your recordings.

Editing cannot:

  • Repair severe physical tape damage.

  • Recreate missing footage.

  • Guarantee restoration of poor-quality recordings.

Results will vary depending on the condition of the original media.

7. Turnaround Times

We aim to complete most orders as quickly as possible.

Estimated turnaround times are provided as guidance only and are not guaranteed.

Delays may occur due to:

  • High order volumes

  • Tape condition

  • Equipment maintenance

  • Delivery delays

  • Circumstances beyond our control

8. Delivery

Customers may:

  • Deliver items to our premises.

  • Send items using an approved delivery service.

  • Use our InPost service where available.

Risk during transit to Trafford Tape Transfer remains with the courier and sender until the parcel has been received by us.

Completed orders will be returned using the delivery method selected by the customer.

9. Insurance

Trafford Tape Transfer maintains appropriate insurance while customer items are in our care.

Insurance does not cover:

  • Damage occurring before we receive your items.

  • Damage during transit caused by third-party delivery companies.

  • Pre-existing deterioration.

  • Media already damaged before arrival.

Any claim will be assessed in accordance with our insurance policy.

10. Loss of Original Media

Whilst every reasonable care is taken when handling customer property, analogue media is often unique and irreplaceable.

Our liability shall not exceed the cost of the conversion service or the limits of our applicable insurance policy unless otherwise required by law.

We cannot accept liability for the sentimental or emotional value of recordings.

11. Payments

Payment methods available will be displayed during checkout.

Customers visiting our premises should note:

  • Cash payments are accepted in person.

  • We do not currently accept in-person card payments.

Orders may not be released until payment has been received in full.

12. Storage of Digital Files

Digital copies may only be retained temporarily after completion of your order.

Customers should back up their files immediately after receiving them.

Trafford Tape Transfer cannot guarantee long-term storage of customer files.

13. Cancellations

Orders may be cancelled before work has commenced.

If work has already started, charges may apply for work completed.

Completed digital conversion services are generally non-refundable unless required by consumer law.

14. Refusal of Service

We reserve the right to refuse any order containing:

  • Illegal material

  • Offensive material

  • Material that infringes copyright

  • Media that presents a health or safety risk to our equipment

  • ​

15. Privacy

Customer information is used solely for processing orders, communicating with customers and complying with legal obligations.

We do not sell customer information to third parties.

16. Website Information

We make every effort to ensure the information on our website is accurate.

However, specifications, prices and services may change without notice.

17. Limitation of Liability

Nothing within these Terms excludes liability where such exclusion would be unlawful.

Except where required by law, Trafford Tape Transfer shall not be liable for indirect, consequential or incidental losses.

18. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
